The Association of Trade and Services of the Algarve Region, ACRAL, was instituted as a result of the merger of the Retail Merchants Association of Faro and São Brás, Employers Association of Traders of the municipalities of Tavira, Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Castro Marim and Alcoutim, Association of Traders of the Municipality of Loulé, and even the membership of a group of traders in the municipality of Olhão mandated for that purpose in a representative commission, and was founded in a Constituent Assembly, meeting in Faro on July 21, 1979, starting with the name of the Merchants Association of Faro - ACODIF.

ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve represents regional trade and defends the legitimate rights of its members in all matters concerning them, either in the national and foreign institutions, as well as with trade unions. To achieve this goal, ACRAL develops all efforts in a preventive action to defend the interests of trade and services, their dignity and the recognition of its economic and social necessities, either in the state institutions and with the consumers.

The main objective of ACRAL is to ensure representation, advocacy and promotion of the common interests of its members, its prestige and dignity.

a) contribute to a harmonious development of trade and services and the regional economy, with a view to maintaining a climate of fair progress and social peace;

b) Promote, in a spirit of solidarity, mutual support among its members;

The ACRAL, is as the name implies, an association that represents and defends the common interests of its members, giving them a support service and caring for its prestige and dignity.

The ACRAL covers the entire region of Algarve, and is represented by secretariats in several cities in the Algarve, namely, Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira, Tavira, Olhão, Vila Real de Santo António, Loulé and has its headquarters in Faro.

At this date ACRAL has 4100 members in all the Algarve.
